HBoV: A Newly Discovered Parvovirus
Background
Human bocavirus (HBoV) is a type of parvovirus that was first discovered in 2005 from a group of children with acute respiratory tract infections.
Since its discovery, HBoV has been found worldwide in both children and adults, and it has been associated with a variety of respiratory illnesses, including pneumonia, bronchitis, and croup.
Antigenic Epitopes
Recent studies have identified the antigenic epitopes (specific regions of the viral surface) that are recognized by the immune system. This discovery may lead to the development of new vaccines and treatments for HBoV infections.
