Giants' Saquon Barkley Signs Franchise Tag

Latest News, Stats, and Videos

Breaking the News

The New York Giants and running back Saquon Barkley have agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth up to $10.1 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Barkley had been designated as the Giants' franchise player in March, but the two sides were unable to reach a long-term agreement by the July 15th deadline.

Career Stats

Barkley has rushed for 3,819 yards and 23 touchdowns in four seasons with the Giants. He was the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2018 and has been named to the Pro Bowl twice. However, injuries have limited him to just 15 games over the past two seasons.

Upcoming Season

The Giants are hoping that Barkley can return to his rookie form in 2023. He will be the focal point of the team's offense, alongside quarterback Daniel Jones and wide receiver Kenny Golladay. The Giants are looking to improve upon their 4-13 record from 2022 and make a playoff push.

Reaction from Barkley

"I'm excited to be back with the Giants," Barkley said. "I'm ready to prove that I'm still one of the best running backs in the league. I want to help this team win a Super Bowl."
